Senior Counselor Job Description
Employment Term: June 29 – August 15 (with extra contracted hours pre/post camp available)
Hours: Arrive at Camp each Sunday by 11:00 am. Leave Camp each Friday by approximately 5:00 pm.
Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 11 Education
- Preference given to those 18 years of age or older
- Experience working with children
- First Aid + CPR Certification
- BYC provides training for individuals hired without certification
- Acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) upon offer of employment.
Description:
- Mentor Junior Counselors and Counselors in Training to become better leaders and role models for campers
- Assist in carrying out Camp Mission
- Actively and enthusiastically lead or participate in all aspects of the Camp Program.
- Carry out various aspects of the Camp Program confidently and independently.
- Ensure campers are made to feel welcome at all times.
- Know the camp emergency procedures and be ready to assist with their implementation of them at any time.
- Responsible for the safety and well-being of campers at all times.
- Assist in creating and maintaining an environment in which campers can experience positive social, emotional, and spiritual growth.
- Exhibit responsible behaviour and be a good role model for campers.
- Properly look after all art, craft, sport, and camping equipment.
- Keep assigned dorms in a clean orderly fashion.
